Bring Your Family Together

Sometimes I go on a photo shoot and I leave being a little bit jealous. This was how I felt after this extended family session.  For this session we had two sets of grandparents, a loving couple and two adorable blue eyed cuties.  After this session was over, I realized that I really need to do a family session like this with my own family.  Now, I know it would be a pain to coordinate an event like this.  It is a lot of schedules to coordinate and a lot of people to get together... grandparents have different needs, kids need naps, teenagers have soccer games, and on and on and on life goes...  What I need to remember, what we all need to remember, is that life is short, and we all need to slow down, gather our family together... and get photos like these to preserve our families forever.
This image makes me so happy. This lovely couple has been together for decades, and are in love as much today as the day they were married.
My father passed away when I was 15 years old, and I would love to have an image like this of the two of us together.
Doesn't this mother daughter duo look beautiful?
It was such a great afternoon... these grandparents were so much fun, and they were all completely in love with their two grand daughters...  Ellery
and  Delaney.
We would take a few images... then laugh and watch the girls play.  It was a great day.

These sessions can wear on little ones who are not at all impressed with standing still for big, formal group photos.  By giving them time to play and having a relaxed session, we were able to get some amazing photos of them and their family!  This is one of my favorites.
These girls love, LOVE, LOOVE their parents.  I feel like I can hear them laughing in this next image.
I want to thank Delaney and Ellery's parents for giving me a wake up call... I NEED a photo shoot like this of my own family!  And thank you for of your efforts in getting the grandparents together for this shoot.  I know they will cherish these images for the rest of their lives.

A Day At The Park With Claire

My goodness!  Meet Claire!
She is one of the sweetest little girls I have ever met! I could not get enough of her sweet smile, little toofers and bright eyes!
I love this image!  As a mother, when I look at this adorable image of Claire.... I feel a lump in my throat.  For me... this image fills my heart for many reasons!  I love that Claire's whole hand is wrapped around one of her mama's fingers... I love the way she is looking up at her daddy... I love that she is learning to walk... I love that someday she may wear her mama's bracelet. This image will be a favorite for me for quite some time.
Look at this new walker go... she is on the move!
Claire really love her daddy!  He can always get her to smile and giggle.  Ahhh.... what a daddy's girl!
Claire and her mommy are such beautiful ladies!

 Isn't this a gorgeous family?

Claire had her own agenda for this shoot.  I LOVE independent girls! Letting her roam around to enjoy her freedom allowed us to get some wonderful images!

Claire, thank you for sharing your family with me and allowing me to capture these images of you!  It was a great afternoon!

A New Brother

Ahhh... I love babies.... can I say that a little louder... I LOVE BABIES!!!  Look at those cheeks and that perfect skin!

I love when a baby laughs like this.... Lucas couldn't even laugh out loud yet, but he is laughing... you can tell from his wide grin and smiling eyes! I think I would have taken him home with me, but I am not sure his parents thought that was part of their portrait package.  I guess next time I will have to have a disclaimer!

This is a beautiful image of Lucas and his mom.  They are both so content and peaceful!  His mom is gazing down at this....

who wouldn't have a full heart watching this little guy snooze?

This is Lucas' big brother Logan.

I had a chance to take photos of him when he was three months old too.  I was shocked when he ran up to me, cookies, ninja turtle and pacifier in hand, when I arrived that day!  He is going to be a great big brother!

I love photographing families with new babies.  Life changes instantly for every family member. It is fun to see how everyone adapts and changes and how much love there is.  I had these boys snuggle on the bed with their parents for awhile to get these next two images.

The weather was a bit rainy that day, but once it subsided a bit, we headed outside for a few shots.  Lucas decided it was time for another little nap... for me, that meant it was a perfect time to take a few shots of his perfect little piggies!

Keep snoozing little Lucas, but for your parent's sake, just try to do it between the hours of 8 pm and 7 am!

Olivia and Seattle Children's Hospital

This is Olivia.
Or wait... This is Olivia.
No, no, no... wait.... THIS is Olivia!
This young girl has so much personality, I love it!

When I was asked to take photos of Olivia so that she would be honored at a charity auction for Seattle Children's Hospital, I was thrilled. What I did not expect was such a resilient, charming, and brilliant eight year old!  She is simply amazing!  She is a very regular guest at Children's, but you would never guess it.  She is definitely NOT defined by her health condition!  I went along on one of Olivia's visits to the hospital to document some of the experiences she has at the hospital.
In this situation, you or I would have a squirmy stomach and sweaty palms, but this laid back little cutie just charmed her way through the entire afternoon!

She was so lucky to have amazing physicians who took the time to explain every thing that was going on around her.  Again... you or I would have maybe heard one word they were saying, but Olivia... she soaked it all up. What a smart cookie!!!
After all of the real business was over, we were able to head outside with the family and really let loose!
Olivia's family is wonderful, but I have to say, my favorite thing during this shoot was watching Olivia and her sister interact.  Her little sister is six and spuuunkyyy! It was so much fun to be around the two of them.  They were not shy... not reserved in the least... and really could make each other laugh... which made me laugh too!
These girls just fed off each other with their silliness and laughter.  Years from now, these two sisters and their parents will cherish these images!

What a pleasure it was to meet Olivia and her family, and what it honor it was to be involved with Seattle Children's Hospital.  The auction is coming up this fall and if you would like more information on the hospital or auction, you can email me at sara@saramontgomeryphoto.com.
